"In order to appreciate the geometrical play of interlacement, it is not enough to simply to look at it head on; it must be 'read' by letting the eye follow the flow of intertwining and compensating forces." Titus Burckhardt (1987).

Red and blue mosaics are actually quite rare in Yazd. The ruby and sapphire palette of this piece reminds me of the shimmering haze of reds and blues in the famous winter prayer hall of the Nasir-ol-Molk Mosque in Shiraz. This is one of two pieces (see also artwork 004) based on geometry that follows Rajen Astho's analysis and layout (2016).
