How to fill qualitative space with colour such that it invokes the essence of unity, harmony and proportionality? This is the second of two artworks based on the underlying geometry of an 8 Pt star pattern found on the portal of the 14th century Masjid-e Jameh (Friday Mosque) in Kerman. Analysis and layout follows Alan Adams. There are so many possible ways to interlace and paint interlocking octagons. The cobalt, emerald, burnt orange and gold palette and traditional tiling layout of this piece fairly closely resembles the original in situ pattern.
