News and Events

Islamic Art 21 is a non-profit space co-founded and directed by the writer, art director, photographer and illustrator, Mohammad Hamwi. The website contains a collection of more than 500 documentary photographs of Islamic art in Istanbul, Damascus and Cairo, as well as articles, quotes, news and interviews on related topics. There is also a section that focusses on contemporary artists from around the world who produce traditional or abstract oriental/Islamic artworks.
A rare opportunity to present my work to the wider Arabic-speaking community of art lovers by way of this beautifully presented portfolio designed by Mohammad and his team:

Such an honour and pleasure to be one of the 40 artists whose work features in the debut issue of the Bayt Al Fann Quarterly “Islamic Pattern – Contemporary Perspectives”. A treasure trove of works by contemporary artists of Islamic art: https://www.baytalfann.com/bayt-al-fann-quarterly

Delighted to feature on my friend Safoura Zahedi’s platform where she shares her geometry journeys of learning about Islamic geometric arts, crafts, and architecture through travel, her own creations, and that of other artists, makers, and thinkers. The photographs she took during her travel year @365daysofgeometry are breathtaking: https://www.instagram.com/p/C40dOFwujnY/

Bayt Al Fann (Art House) is a global home for artists, creatives and communities to collaborate, exchange insights and co-create the future of art inspired by Islamic tradition. It contains poems, articles, interviews and talks with artists.
